One Way Mirror

part of ExxonMobil Campus Concerts Season 1, 2015/2016
by NUS Stage, a member of NUS Centre For the Arts

One-Way Mirror presents a montage of excerpts from well-known Singaporean plays book-ended by the Brechtian classic, Life of Galileo, in an exploration of the tensions between society and the individual, foregrounding the perspectives from which institutions survey the individual and the various possible responses to such surveillance (whether real or perceived).

As our society grapples with the ethics of a growing court of public opinion and (meta-)data surveillance, made exponentially more efficient through social media and enterprise technologies, the lines between the individual's views in private and public are increasingly blurred while purveyors of social acceptability may continue observing our activities largely obscured.

Who watches the watchers? Who’s watching us at all? NUS Stage invites you to consider these questions in an hour of socially-charged theatre.

ExxonMobil Campus Concerts celebrates 30 years of fueling passion of the arts on campus.
